The original Bond martini, made according to Ian Flemming’s original recipe in Casino Royale consists of:

“Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?”

I recommend using your top-shelf gin and vodka or this drink, as the quality of your spirits will dictate how good this drink turns out. Be sure to serve the Vesper ice cold, and if at all possible, chill your martini glass beforehand to keep the cocktail colder for a longer period of time.


  • 3 ounces dry London gin
  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 ounce Lillet Blanc
  • Lemon twist
  • Ice

Combine gin, vodka, and Lillet in shaker with ice. Shake well until cold; strain into chilled martini glass, garnish with lemon twist and serve.
